American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED challenge

Want to save time? Are you currently certified by the American Red Cross? Are you one of those people who have taken American Red Cross CPR/AED and/or American Red Cross First Aid certification classes … over and over and over again? So many times that you feel like all you really need is a test to prove that you already know it all? If so, you may qualify for an American Red Cross “challenge” (rather than a a certification or recertification class).

A challenge is not a class where you come to learn. On the contrary, it is a place to prove that you already know all of the material. In a challenge, you are given scenarios and you are — without any help or coaching — expected to deal with the situation properly. Plus you are given a written quiz — and expected to achieve a score of at least 80%. If you pass both hurdles successfully, you get recertified.

Compared to a normal class, challenges are significantly faster. They are faster, still, because all CPR-Twin Cities challenges are private. Being one-on-one sessions, you save even more time, as you never need to wait for your turn to test out.

To be clear, not everyone who goes this route passes. You have to really know the material well. For most people, studying ahead of time is a really smart decision.

The cost and time required depends on the particular American Red Cross class. Here are the private, one-on-one challenges that CPR-Twin Cities currently offers:

CPR/AED (for the general public):

$50 (testing) + $20 (certificate) = $70 (total)

First Aid (for the general public):

$40 (testing) + $20 (certificate) = $60 (total)

First Aid/CPR/AED (for the general public)

$60 (testing) + $28 (certificate) = $68 (total)

Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR/AED (primarily for health care providers and public safety officers):

$80 (testing) + $19 (certificate) = $99 (total)

The testing charge is based on the approximate amount of time required to conduct a one-on-one challenge. That amount must be paid in advance (via PayPal, using either a PayPal account or any major credit card). That charge is not refundable, regardless of the outcome of your challenge.

The certificate charge, paid directly to the American Red Cross, is only required after successfully completing the testing. If, for some reason, you do not pass, it is not charged.

CPR-Twin Cities challenges are held in our home office, in the Highland Park neighborhood of St. Paul, MN. To schedule a private challenge for yourself, please give us a call at (651) 699-3333.

If, after reading this page, you think you may not qualify for a challenge, please consider taking one of our normal CPR-Twin Cities classes. Here is a description of the classes that we offer.
