Looking for American Red Cross or American Heart Association recertification in CPR/AED and/or First Aid?

While you may be thinking that American Red Cross (ARC) recertification and American Heart Association (AHA) recertification are your only options, you may qualify for CPR-Twin Cities recertification, too. To qualify for CPR-Twin Cities recertification, you must have successfully completed an equivalent- or higher-level CPR-Twin Cities, American Red Cross or American Heart Association class, and you must have proof of that fact. Furthermore, that qualifying class must have been completed within the past two years. Except for a 30-day grace period, there are no exceptions to this rule.

To help you understand what does what does not qualify, here are the general American Heart Association and American Red Cross class equivalents:

CPRTC: “Adult CPR/AED”

ARC: “Adult CPR/AED”

AHA: (none)

CPRTC: “Pediatric CPR/AED” (“Child and Infant CPR/AED”)

ARC: (none)

AHA: (none)

CPRTC: “Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED”

ARC: “Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED”

AHA: “Heartsaver CPR AED”

AHA: “Family & Friends CPR” (non-certification class)

CPRTC: “Adult First Aid/CPR/AED”

ARC: “Adult First Aid/CPR/AED”

AHA: “Heartsaver First Aid/CPR AED”

CPRTC: “Pediatric CPR/AED” (“Child and Infant CPR/AED”)

ARC: (none)

AHA: “Heartsaver CPR AED”

CPRTC: “Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED”

ARC: “Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED”

AHA: “Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED”

CPRTC: “Adult and Pediatric First Aid”

ARC: “First Aid”

AHA: “Heartsaver First Aid”

ARC: “Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers”

AHA: “Basic Life Support (BLS)”

Of course, you should always check with your employer or school before signing up for a class, to ensure that they will accept either a CPR-Twin Cities certificate. In many cases, you might be surprised to find that American Red Cross or American Heart Association recertification are not your only options. And once you see what CPR-Twin Cities classes have to offer and how comprehensive the training is, you may never look back again.
